Program's goal is to provide an opportunity for 10 adults
who have the primary diagnosis of autism, to learn life skills
and have meaningful employment. Program will offer two tracks:
(1) supported track where individuals work in a sheltered
environment within the Autism Training Center; (2) independent
track that will offer opportunities for employment in workplace
settings with the use of a job coach. Includes community outings
to give participants opportunities to develop appropriate
recreational and social skills.
Ages: 22 and up.

A program for teens to develop daily living skills and independence
in a structured environment. Each program offers activities
to promote social interactions, working cooperatively, and
learning new skills. Each week involves cooking (i.e. planning
a meal, shopping, cooking, eating together and cleaning up),
units (e.g. safety, pop music, manners, nutrition, shopping
mall), exercise, and independent/partner work activities.
Participants also go on outings in the community (restaurants,
movies, mall, bowling, etc.) to practice skills learned in
class.
When: Meets on Fridays, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Ages: 14 and up.
Insurance not accepted.
Cost: $25 (per class).

Independent Living at Have Dreams
This pre-teen/teen program provides the opportunity to develop
daily living skills, such as cooking, group names and independent
leisure. Participants practice pre-vocational skills, preparation,
job awareness and work stamina.
When: Meets on Saturdays, 10-11:30 a.m.
Ages: 10 and up.
Insurance not accepted.
Cost: $25 (per class).

The OT department holds a life skills group that is targeted
towards pre-teens and teens whom have difficulty with daily
living skills. Areas that are addressed include (but are not
limited to) the following: dressing/appropriateness of clothing,
personal hygiene, health and nutrition, exercise, transportation,
meal preparation/cooking, kitchen/home safety, household chores/clean
up, safety awareness, shopping/gift giving, ordering at restaurants,
advanced telephone use, working constructively within a peer
group setting, money management, etc. These skills are taught
in as realistic situations as possible, which may include
outings to area restaurants, stores, or appropriate facilities.
Ages: 12 and up.

The BASIC Model is designed to instruct parents on how to
teach their child basic life skills using visual systems and
discrete trial. Consultation is provided in the home by a
life skills consultant who will assist the parent in developing
goals, teaching the child, monitoring goals and progress,
and advancing the child's skills. Parents interested in applying
for the BASICS Program need to click on application.
Ages: 3-10.
Insurance not accepted.
Cost for home assessment : $150 (plus travel).
Individual program development cost: $90 (per hour plus materials).
Consultant travel cost: $30 (per hour).
